Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
So I just finished reading Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer, a vampire love story that our junior high students just love. This is definitely chick lit, it mostly focuses on the love story between Bella and Edward. Bella is instantly attracted to Edward's striking beauty and he is irresistibly drawn to something about her. He starts out resisting the attraction, which is sure to lead to her doom, and almost does, but then gives in and resolves to protect her no matter what the cost. Bella is so head over heels in love, that she doesn't even seem to care about the danger she places herself in by being in love with a vampire who may give in to temptation at any second. Romance lovers will enjoy the tension brought about by the dangerous attraction, and vampire fans will enjoy the addition of good vampires to vampire lore. These vampires can be out in the daylight, but avoid direct sunlight because it reveals their true nature (non-human, but in a beautiful way, like a carniverous flower as explained in the book). I recommend this to anyone who loved The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klaus, but think that her Blood and Chocolate (a love story about werewolves) is a better read.
